The criteria of excellence

Each Tahitian cultured pearl is evaluated according to five fundamental criteria which define its value and rarity:
The size
Tahitian cultured pearls come in a wide range of sizes, from 8 mm to over 25 mm. Diameters greater than 12 mm remain rare and spectacular, true jewels of our lagoons.

At Robert Wan, large pearls embody the excellence of our craftsmanship and are the ultimate expression of our quality standards.
Size is a determining criterion in the evaluation of a pearl: the larger its diameter, the higher its value.
The shape
Round, semi-round, button, oval, drop, or even baroque: the shape influences the style, use, and value of the pearl. Perfectly round and symmetrical pearls are extremely rare, which significantly increases their value.
The surface
A quality pearl has a clean surface, with few or no visible imperfections. The smoother and more even the surface, the more valuable the pearl.
The chandelier
It refers to the reflection of light on the surface of the pearl: this is what gives it its shine. A quality luster, with an intense mirror effect, is the sign of a thick and homogeneous deposit of nacre.
The color
The Tahitian pearl offers an exceptional natural palette. The most sought-after shades are often the rarest: intense green, dark eggplant, silvery gray, or deep blue.
These criteria are rigorously applied in the Maison Robert Wan pearl selection process, guaranteeing exception and excellence at every stage.
